Rubens Barn dolls are one of the few anatomically correct cloth dolls available. And that is despite the fact that it is so nice for children to have a doll that resembles them in multiple ways: in terms of skin color, hair color, and anatomy.
Rubens Barn Dolls
The soft Rubens Barn dolls are lovely dolls with sweet faces and a delightful body to hold. The large Baby Dolls are 45 cm tall and weigh 600 grams, making them feel like a real baby to small children. In addition to the large dolls, smaller dolls are also available from Rubens Barn: the Ecobuds and Ecobuds Mini. These are more affordable and easier to handle for very young children. For every Ecobuds Mini sold, a tree is planted. This also makes them a very nice gift to give, for example, at a birth.
The Baby Dolls are available with a vulva or a penis and in various skin and hair tones. All dolls come with cute clothes and in a nice storage box. This box also has a lid, so you can use it for all sorts of things for years to come.
Why a doll?
Playing with dolls is good for children's social-emotional development. Children practice role-playing, immerse themselves, experience feelings of empathy, and stimulate their own imagination. Playing with a doll can also be incredibly helpful in regulating one's own emotions. Play with dolls is stimulating for the development of both boys and girls. The accessory sets from Rubens Barn also include fun sequence cards, with which children learn the order in which to go to bed, change a diaper, or eat, for example.
A cloth doll or a plastic doll?
Dolls with a plastic face that really looks like a baby's face are very attractive to children. Unfortunately, plastic dolls often contain harmful plasticizers, quite apart from the fact that plastic is an unsustainable raw material. Nowadays, it is trendy to give plastic dolls a vanilla scent using synthetic fragrances. This masks the typical smell of plasticizers if they have been used. Many parents do not find this vanilla scent very pleasant at all. Examples of dolls with a vanilla scent include those from Paola Reina, Miniland, and Corolle. We have deliberately not included plastic dolls in our assortment.
Cloth dolls are often a more sustainable and pleasant alternative. They are made from natural materials such as (organic) cotton and contain no harmful substances. In addition, a cloth doll feels wonderful to the touch, with a soft body and a soft head.
