Accessories for cloth diapering

What do you need to use cloth diapers? Firstly, of course, cloth diapers. But there are many products on the market that make cloth diapering easier, more convenient or just more fun.

Using cloth diapers gets much easier, for example, if you put a disposable liner in the diaper. This catches solid stool, so you can throw your diaper in the diaper bin without rinsing or soaking your diaper. On laundry day you let the washing machine rinse the diapers, which removes the last tiny bits of stool. Then, your washing machine starts a fresh main cycle with relatively clean diapers. Did you know that most ‘disposable’ liners can be reused? If they did not get soiled, you can wash them a couple of times and use them again. Only bamboo liners break down too much when washed, so you should dispose of them after one use. We also carry cloth liners. Stool should be shaken off into the toilet and you simply wash the liner with the diapers.

Have you thought about cloth wipes too? We throw away a countless number of disposable wipes every year, even though a simple damp piece of cloth made of bamboo or cotton cleans bottoms just as well! In fact, most people actually need less cloth wipes than disposable wipes. If you prefer your wipes a little oily or with a nice smell? That can be done with cloth wipes too. You will only need a waterproof box, a layer of (warm) water, a drop of your favorite baby shampoo, some coconut oil or baby oil and if you want, a few drops of essential oils. Mix it all up, put your wipes inside and you’re done! You have made your own nurturing cloth wipes with a lovely scent. We recommend preparing cloth wipes up to 3 days and to make a new mix with a fresh pile of wipes. At least now you have full control of what you put against your baby’s sensitive skin. Cloth wipes are not only eco-friendly, but also very skin-friendly. If you are interested you can check out the web page of the Consumentenbond (written in Dutch) to find out more about the ingredients in disposable cloth wipes.

After changing your child’s diaper you can easily throw the cloth wipes in the diaper pail together with the cloth diaper. We carry several sizes of diaper bins, but you can also opt for a cute large pail liner. You can wash it together with the diapers and wipes. When using a diaper pail we also recommend buying two mesh laundry bags. This allows you to put one in the washing machine together with your diapers and put in a clean one in your diaper bin right away. If you choose to have more than one changing station in your home, you can think about purchasing more diaper pails.

If you want to cloth diaper on-the-go as well, purchasing a few wet bags and a changing mat is recommended. Also, a wet bag for daycare or babysitters is quite a necessity to store the dirty diapers in.
