This beautiful diaper is part of the Tiaki collection of the New Zealand brand Kekoa. Tiaki means ‘to take care of’in Maori. The collection is inspired by native flora and fauna and is in line with Kekoa’s intention: “”Toitū te marae o Tāne-mahuta, Toutū te marae o Tangaroa, Toitū te tangata” – if the land is well, and the sea is well, the people will thrive”.

The South Island Takahe is a flightless native New Zealand bird. It is the largest living member of the family Rallidae (rails). The South Island Takahe is about 63cm long and weighs about 2.5kg. Standing it is 50cm high. The blue-green bird has sturdy legs and a large, strong bill that allows it to bite hard if necessary. In the wild the animals live to 18 years, in captivity up to 22 years. The bird is endangered, it is estimated that 418 birds were still alive in the wild in 2019. Fortunately, the population is sustaining and growing at about 10% per year.

Kekoa’s premium One Size diapers fit from about 3 to 18kg and are adjustable in five different sizes. The diapers are made from recycled polyester. This saves 75% on electricity and even 90% on water, compared to new polyester. Per diaper it saves about six plastic bottles that do not end up on the waste mountain.

The diapers can be used as a pocket diaper, with a large pocket opening on the front and back. In addition, you can also use them as a Snap-In-One diaper. By clicking the supplied inserts on the press studs in the diaper. A flap has also been created at the front and back, so that you can also put loose inserts in the pants. A very versatile diaper!

The diaper is designed with a bilayer technology. This means that the outer layer consists of two layers. The outside with print is made of PUL, on which a CoolMax layer has been sewn, which is therefore on the inside of the pocket opening. The skin side of this diaper is also made of CoolMax. You can therefore easily slide inserts between the two CoolMax layers. This material is smooth and non-slip like the inside of PUL pocket diapers. It also makes preparing the diapers a lot easier for large hands and the extra layer also protects the water-resistant PUL layer. The two openings, both at the front and back, make preparing the diapers a lot easier than with traditional pocket diapers. Inserts fall out of the diaper easily during washing if they are not clicked into place.

The diapers have a double drainage channel at the legs and two edges with elastic on the back. Leaking diapers hardly stand a chance.

This beautiful diaper come with two bamboo-cotton boosters. A small and a somewhat larger one. You can use either one of these inserts, or both at the same time if you need more or less absorbency. This means that the diaper can not only be adjusted to your child in size, but also in terms of absorbency.

This diaper has a very luxurious appearance due to the slightly shiny PUL and the firm, but soft materials. Truly a premium diaper!

Kekoa diapers have the OEKO-TEX quality mark.

Material:
-Diaper Material: 100% recycled polyester with CoolMax inside.
-Absorbent inserts: bamboo and cotton booster: 70% bamboo, 30% cotton
-Material of bamboo-terry bifold: 80% bamboo, 20% polyester.

The diapers can be washed at 60 degrees. The inserts can possibly be put in the dryer at a low temperature. We recommend that you let both the pants and the inserts dry on a line.

What a beautiful diaper!

For the grandparents and the nursery we now use the Bambino Mio Solo. We already have to refill these quite a bit with extra inserts, and also the elastic doesn't work quite as well as it should. Moreover, our daughter is starting to outgrow it (thanks to those extra inserts), even though at 16 months she will probably need diapers for a while. That's why I wanted to try a "simple" diaper that would last a bit longer. Thanks to the beautiful prints, I ended up with this diaper from Kekoa. I have used it several times now. So far I am impressed with this diaper. It feels different from the other diapers I have tried (and there are quite a few): very fine and soft material, very elastic yet firm. And also in real life the diaper is very nice! I use the Kekoa as a pocket diaper, with both included inserts. For our sturdy 16-month-old girl, there is still more than enough room to grow, especially in width. The diaper fits nicely, absorbs well and is still quite compact. It doesn't sit very high in the back, which I personally like. But I haven't had any squirting diapers yet. Although I think - thanks to the extra "flap" at the back and the good elastic - that will be fine too. The diaper is pricey, but so far I think it's worth it. It really feels like a luxury diaper, just as this brand portrays itself in the market. Definitely highly recommended as far as I'm concerned; I'll buy a few more in the future for those times when a one-piece system is more convenient. (Although you could well buy it for everyday use as well.)
