You can sort the columns from high to low or the other way around, by clicking the column title. This way, you can sort the covers by price, closure system or country of production, for example. So helpful!

Product

In the first column, you will find the name of the product. This is also a link, so if you click the name of the product, you will get to the right page straight away. You can learn about the product more extensively there, and purchase the item if you wish to do so.

Price

This column lists the lowest and highest price of a cover. Some brands produce solid colors as well as printed covers and charge less for solid color ones. Also, larger sizes can be more expensive. By clicking the column title, you can sort from lowest to highest price.

Size

In this column you will find for which weight the covers are suitable, but do mind that these are approximates and depend heavily on the build of your child. Some products like pull up covers have a more specific size table in the product text with measurements of leg and belly circumferences per size. This is usually a better guideline than the weight ranges.

Materials

In the column with information about materials you can find whether the covers are made of PUL or TPU. PUL (Polyurethane Laminate) and TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) are both made of polyester. For PUL, the waterproof laminate is created with chemicals, whereas TPU is laminated on extremely high temperatures. This makes the production process of TPU more eco-friendly than that of PUL. If you want to avoid synthetic materials altogether, you could opt for wool covers.

Certificates

Certificates are being given off to indicate whether the used materials are free of harmful chemicals, or if the organic cotton truly ticks all the boxes for organic production and the way of business operation. Below, you will find an overview of certificates and what they reflect.

CPSIA: Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act

Products with this certificate have to meet the requirements of products for children. The products need to be tested for safety and need a written certificate of that.

CCPSA: Canada Consumer Product Safety Act

Products with this certificate have to meet the requirements of safe products for consumers. The products need to be tested for safety and need a written certificate of that.

GOTS: Global Organic Textile Standard. This certificate guarantees proper processing of organic raw materials. Only products that contain at least 70% organic raw material are considered to be GOTS certified. Also, all other products used for processing, like dyes, have to meet environmental and non-toxic standards. Not all products qualify to be used in GOTS certified products. The treatment of waste water that arises during production also needs to meet eco-friendly standards.

ISO 9001:2008. This certificate guarantees a high standard of management system. Companies with an ISO 9001 certificate must prove that they can deliver products and services with the legal requirements and that are satisfactory for the customer. ISO 9001 certified companies also strive to improve their customer satisfaction by for example guaranteeing conformity of products and meeting legal requirements.

OEKO-TEX. The OEKO-TEX standard 100 certificate guarantees that there have not been any harmful chemicals used during the production process of the fabric. Products with this label need to be tested for several different harmful chemicals that may not exceed certain levels. Those levels are specifically low for cloth diapers, because the fabrics are used against the skin.

Country of production

The next column in the table is the country of production. This can be interesting, because the brand’s country of origin is generally not the country in which the diapers are actually manufactured.

Closure system

In this column you can find which closure system is used on the cover. Pull up covers have no closure system, but can be pulled up like underpants. Some brands sell covers in a snap as well as a hook and loop (velcro) version.

Double leg gussets

Covers with double leg gussets have an extra layer of elastics around the legs. These covers are generally easier to create a snug fit with, which prevents leakage and blowouts.

Double layered PUL/TPU

Some brands do not use only one layer of PUL or TPU, but two. Covers with two layers of PUL are less prone to leaks than covers with one layer.

Flaps

In this column you will find whether or not covers have flaps on the inside or not. Covers with flaps are ideal to use in combination with inserts or pre folds. The flaps make them stay in place better.

Matching inserts available

Some covers are not only suitable to use with foldable diapers or fitted diapers, but can also be used as a part of a snap-in-one (SIO) system with matching inserts. If a cover can be used in combination with matching inserts, this is marked as ‘Yes’. The ‘Yes’ can be clicked on to be linked to the matching inserts.
